This three story, Assisted and Independent Living facility is located between Omaha and Lincoln and complete with assisted and independent living apartments, a beauty shop, craft area, library, chapel, exercise room and two dining rooms.

Creating an environment that would be reflective of their quaint friendly town while designing a modestly upscale environment was the design focus. Appealing to surrounding retired farmers, sophisticated commuters ready to retire, and the locals was a must.

Taking design inspiration from the natural beauty and scenery of this area, an organic leaf design was used in dining room carpet and main resident corridor carpet tile pattern was selected to emulate an abstract aerial view of the Midwest.  Subtle prairie style detailing is found in the dining room wall, nurses’ station/library desk and tile in the public restrooms.  The acrylic panel designed into the dining room wall offers natural texture and privacy from passerby’s.

Specifying fabrics and finishes that were durable, easy to maintain was important in this facility due to limited cleaning staff. Accent colors were brought in through artwork, upholstery, draperies and accessories. Window treatments were designed to offer flexible light control, additional color and textures for a more home like environment.

Ceiling bulkheads and soffits were used to create visual interest but also to help in wayfinding.  Adding wood pilasters and accent carpet in the resident hallways provides warmth, interest and foreshorten the space.

The reception area provides a welcoming impression, while providing a secure office in the front for the assistant manager. Original artwork in the lobby from a famed local painter, Gene Roncka was selected for its depiction of the historical trail that the town now resides.

We were responsible for designing and specifying interior details, finishes, millwork, dining wall, ceilings, lighting, artwork, signage and furniture.
